Every organization strives to promote a culture that encourages excellence, and we are elated that two of our colleagues, Tamilselvi (Selvi) Pasumalaithevan and Mardís Heimisdóttir, are recipients of the 2020 Waters Women in Technology and Data Awards. We are extremely grateful for this recognition; our women are exceptional and it is in our DNA – the legacy Advent Software business was founded by an industrious woman more than 30 years ago.
Selvi Pasumalaithevan is a Principal Consultant in the Professional Services department, and winner of Waters Women in Data and Technology: Consultant of the Year Award. It is well known that Selvi makes her clients’ lives easier and their businesses run smoothly. SS&C Advent clients consider her an advocate, an ally, a business partner and, in many cases, their primary “go-to.” As more than one client describes it, Selvi “gives us the utmost confidence.” Among colleagues, her confidence is contagious – she is a thoughtful leader, trainer, and collaborator whose presence on a project elevates the performance of everyone working on it. And, she does execute with high quality, enthusiasm and remarkable warmth and cheer; a true asset to SS&C Advent.
Mardís Heimisdóttir is a Director, Organizational Development & Program Management and winner of Waters Women in Data and Technology: Support Professional of the Year. Mardís has continuously sought and found ways to improve the organization and she is not afraid of taking on any task; a challenger of the status quo and a champion of an employee-first workplace. Mardís has made a measurable impact on our business growth, as well as employee success. The most telling metric: employee attrition in 2019 was by far the lowest since the company began tracking it. At a time when competition for talent in our industry is fierce, and expertise is a critical differentiator, this is a striking accomplishment – due in no small part to initiatives Mardís has led to improve communication, goal clarity, goal alignment, and a sense of shared purpose between executive leadership and employees.
At SS&C Advent, we value the contribution and leadership that women have brought to our company. Including partnering with the TechWomen global mentorship program to empower, connect, and support the next generation of women leaders in STEM from the Middle East, Africa and Central Asia. Moreover, the internal Advent Women Connect group brings together diverse perspectives to discuss industry topics, as well as personal development and growth themes. It is also worth noting that Selvi and Mardis are joining another of our outstanding colleagues, Cathy Messina, who was honored as a Women of Influence by the Jacksonville Business Journal in 2019 where she was cited for demonstrating visionary leadership at SS&C Advent, mentoring the next generation of leaders, and overall for presenting an innovative mindset.
The diligence, sensibility, energy, and excellence that each of these professionals contribute to the workplace is unmatched. Fortunately, SS&C Advent is privileged to have a company full of committed professional women that make working at SS&C a stimulating endeavor. While many women have been outstanding in their own right, it is imperative to have a culture that encourages and promotes women and we’re grateful for the industry recognition for our exceptional teammates Selvi and Mardis.
